Keys, An Exploration Of Loss

This project is inspired by loss of status; keys hold major importance in human life, they let us into our homes and our cars, precious items are hid behind lock and key. By using keys in this way we embody them with status. Then one day they cease to be, we change the locks, move house, buy a new car, the key’s importance is removed, it grows old and dusty at the back of a drawer. 

The keys know that they were important once, confused as to why they are alone, cold, in the dark, left behind, knowing not what their status is now, only knows that it is no more. By creating a narrative for the keys the piece connects with the complex nature of human society; the fleeting notion and fragility of importance within the ever-changing social structure we live in.
